GliConnect® and Telemedicine: Now an Integral Part of Care

The European target set by Italy’s NRRP (PNRR) for telemedicine called for at least 300,000 patients to receive remote care. Today, according to consolidated data from the Italian Ministry of Health, that figure has been significantly exceeded and continues to grow.

This achievement confirms a transformation that has now become structural: remote monitoring is firmly integrated into care pathways, particularly for patients with chronic conditions, older adults, and people with comorbidities, for whom reducing avoidable travel can translate into greater continuity of care.

This is the context in which GliConnect® operates: a certified Class IIa medical device for remote glucose monitoring, interoperable with Regional Telemedicine Infrastructures and compliant with the requirements of the Italian Ministerial Decree of 30 September 2022. Data collected from patients’ devices and appropriately processed by algorithmic functions are integrated with the clinical and therapeutic history already available in MetaClinic®, allowing every glucose reading collected remotely to be interpreted within its clinical context.

Completing Meteda’s telemedicine ecosystem are applications for teleconsultations, remote visits, and secure doctor-patient communication: certified and traceable tools designed to integrate seamlessly into the existing workflows of diabetes centers.

Telemedicine is increasingly becoming an integral part of clinical pathways and digital patient management—an area in which Meteda has been working for years to integrate remote monitoring, clinical data, and continuity of care.
