TELEMEDICINE

Telemedicine in Outpatient Patient Care Pathways

The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of telemedicine in daily clinical practice, enabling new ways of managing patients and bridging physical distances between clinics and communities. Meteda invested in ready-to-use digital solutions integrated with the electronic medical record to ensure continuity of care remotely.

During the Covid emergency, Meteda provided digital tools integrated with the electronic health record to remotely manage people with diabetes unable to attend clinics.

SmartVisit® and SmartLink®: Televisits, Teleconsultations, and Secure Communication

SmartVisit® (televisits and teleconsultations) and SmartLink® (secure messaging between patients and healthcare providers) have proven effective in care delivery, facilitating the use of simple and reliable digital tools.
They are particularly valuable in care pathways and follow-up for patients with comorbidities, elderly, frail, or clinically unstable individuals.

Meteda’s SmartVisit® and SmartLink® devices:

  • use widely validated communication protocols;
  • are certified medical devices and GDPR-compliant;

  • enable simultaneous online consultation of clinical data by all professionals involved;

  • are integrated with certified Class IIa electronic medical records;
  • support teleconsultation with electronic signature of specialists;

  • are connected to e-prescription systems and the EMR;

  • ensure full traceability of all online clinical activities.

GliConnect®: Diabetes Telemonitoring

GliConnect® is a certified Class IIa medical device developed by Meteda for blood glucose telemonitoring, designed for interoperability with Telemedicine Infrastructures and Platforms. The solution collects and integrates patient device data, processing it according to clinical criteria defined by Scientific Societies in their consensus on telemonitoring in diabetology.

GliConnect® is interoperable with electronic medical records, Local Health Administrative Operational Centers, and the Electronic Medical Repositories.

GliConnect® integration with the electronic medical record allows patient device data to be linked to the individual’s clinical-therapeutic history.

The integration of GliConnect® with the electronic medical record is fundamental

GliConnect®'s integration with the electronic medical record is crucial for a comprehensive set of values recorded by remote devices along with the individual patient's clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic history. This workflow ensures a telemonitoring function that complies with the criteria outlined in Annex B of the Ministerial Decree of September 30, 2022. Therefore, it is of practical importance to export it through continuous communication processes and integration with the Regional Telemedicine Infrastructures that the various regional bodies are required to set up and then communicate with the FSE and PNT.
